The Growth of Manufacturing
Even though the Civil War had weakened both sides during the 1800's, the North had begun to manufacture goods as a way of trade. The only problem was that they had so many people on duty for war, that there were not enough men working. Families started to rely on women and children to work. The whole structure of manufacture had shifted in many ways.
